Jockin Jay-Z (Jordan On The Wizards)
So I've been bestowed with the power to point out Old Head activity via this blog, and for my inaugral post I decided to discuss the Jigga Man's latest attempt at "The Cool".

Jockin Jay-Z..Click Here to listen

When people used to tell me that Michael Jordan on the Wizards wasn't the same as Jordan on the Chicago Bulls, I used to disagree with a passion. I was so excited that the man, the legend, was playing for my team. Don't get me wrong, he played pretty well most of the time and was still one of the top 20 players in the league...but he just wasn't the real Mike. The fan in me wouldn't allow me to accept that my idol was headed towards those two dreadful words....Washed Up.

I'm sure you will see a million "Jockin Jay-Z" related blogs today. I might be the only one out of that million to say the song is mediocre.

Before you begin to insult me, hear me out. Like everyone else who came up in the late 90's/early 2000's, I too was a self proclaimed Jay-Z stan. The man could do no wrong. But now I can look at it from a non biased perspective and I think the game has become so watered down that our criteria for a crazy verse or a hot song has been drastically lowered.

Give me any Andre 3000 verse from the past 12 months over this. I will say that Kanye keeps reinventing himself and is the freshest producer out.

Now let the tomato throwing begin.

I agree with you Sick! This is how i felt about the Carter 3. It was an eh album but in today's watered down industry it was like Reasonable doubt to some people.

Sure in comparison to the wackness thats being put out today this is hot and I agree that the song is nothing SPECTACULAR but just because the status quo is GARBAGE doesnt mean that everything that is sub par is still close to garbage or only sub par because the par is so low.

I like the song even tho it sounded way better live and I'm sure the final mix will sound way better sonically (not just a word thrown out by old heads to sell you on how much better a final mix sounds) but live it was performed with much more enthusiasm as to on the record where you get the lethargic laid back "I don't really care" flow.

I'm a Jay fan but I don't always agree with everything he does and tho I enjoy a lot of his old shit to the new stuff, I also enjoy some of the new stuff in comparison to a few of the old ones as well. Guess it's just a matter of taste, preference and which "Young" Hov you enjoy listening to.

Oh and C'mon Phella, I expected a full break down of moments in Jordans career vs. Jay-Z's songs/albums. LOL I guess thats asking a lot tho.
